Hello and Welcome!
A new way to communicate
I have a newsletter on SubStack for my Alaskan history research, but this one will be wider-ranging and more personal, a place to write about whatever I find interesting or thought-provoking. At times I’ll delve into history, but it will probably be history beyond Alaska’s borders, and maybe even beyond the borders of the U.S., but more often this newsletter will explore ideas, daydreams, politics, religion, inventions, genealogies, and whatever sparks my interest. I’ll try to keep it interesting for my readers, too.
For those who aren’t familiar with me yet, this is from my website:
Through my company, Northern Light Media, I’ve published over a dozen nonfiction books about the history of Alaska, the railroads, roadhouses, revenue cutter service, gold rush history, and historic sled dog races. All of my books are available at my Northern Light Media website, at Amazon, IndyBound, and through your favorite independent bookstore, whether online or down the street.
I have given presentations about my books at the Alaska State Fair, the Palmer Historical Society, Fireside Books in Palmer, Jitters Coffeehouse in Eagle River, the Talkeetna Roadhouse, the University of Alaska, radio, television, and many other venues. I have also written articles for Alaska Magazine, Last Frontier Magazine, Alaska Dispatch, Alaska History Magazine, Mushing Magazine, The Frontiersman, and many others.
